Pumpkins!

We've got pumpkins in the library!  We are off to a great start for this year's Pumpkin Book Character contest with over 30 entries.  Below are just two of the fabulous pumpkins that our students have decorated for our contest this year.

Book Character Pumpkins

Don't forget to decorate a pumpkin as your favorite book character.  We'll have them set out this week in the library and vote for our favorite pumpkin.

Deer, Raccoons, & Skunks

Fiction and Nonfiction

Most of the time in the library, we read a lot of fictional stories together, but this week, we read a nonfiction book about deer.  The students loved the photographs and learning facts about deer.  Did you know that deer can swim?  We didn't, but we do now!  

While the book was amazing, the best part came at the end of story time when we opened the trunk that the Texas Wildlife Agency sent to us.  We had three pelts that we got to touch and discuss.  Now, that was a real experience!  Fiction is fun, but nonfiction can be awesome.
