September in the Library

We are Ready to Read!

This month, classes are visiting our the library.  It is an exciting time as we learn where our favorite books are located and how we can borrow books from the library. Parents, ask your child about our school library and the stories that they are hearing.  Here are some books that we've been reading.

PreK and Kinder--We learned about being a good library friend from Mr. Wiggles.  We hug our books and treat them like a baby.  You wouldn't want to drop a book or a baby!

1st--We learned how we can take care of books from a hedgehog named Marion. We would never get our books wet, eat around them, or take leave them outside.  If we damage a book, we take them to our librarian to fix.

2nd--We learned how animals should not wear clothes or borrow library books!  We don't want to be like the animals and damage books because a whale would get them wet, an eel would get ink on it, and
a raccoon would tear the book up.

3rd--The Shelf Elf, Skoobs, taught us library manners.
We use quiet voices, walking feet, and, shelf markers!

4th--We learned from The Library Dragon that while there are rules in the library, the library is a fun place to hear stories and find books.  We also learned that there are a lot of words an author can use instead of repeatedly saying "fire." Ask your child about all the words and phrases that we found that are associated with the word "fire."  Each week, we need to bring both books back to the library, but we can always recheck out books!
